'Sturgeon Moon' Brightens the Night Sky of Paris - Video

The August full moon is often called the Sturgeon Moon because of the great number of large freshwater fish that were easily caught during this time of summer.

A live broadcast video offers a panoramic view of the French capital city with a wonderful look at an eclipsed Sturgeon Moon with an orange tint. The moon slowly rises at sunset and floats over the horizon.

August’s full moon goes by several names, including the Grain Moon, Green Corn Moon, Fruit Moon, and Barley Moon. These names were derived from Native American, Anglo-Saxon, and Germanic folklore.
