Russian Government Imposes 2-Year Ban on Buying Foreign Data Storage Devices for State Needs

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade has taken measures to help Russian electronic production companies at the state level, stimulating the demand for microelectronics.

The Russian government has imposed a two-year ban on purchasing foreign data storage devices for state needs, a document said.

The document developed by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the ban will concern equipment that have Russian analogues in a single register of electronic products. The document, signed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, has been published on the portal of regulatory legal acts.

Manturov added that there is already a sufficient number of domestic manufacturers on the market who are ready to provide the necessary level of supply.

The document was signed on 21 December. It entered into force on the same day and will be valid for two years.
