Sputnik V Developers to Present Booster Shot Against Delta Variant of Coronavirus

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The developers of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine will soon present a booster shot against the Delta variant of the coronavirus, which was first detected in India, according to the official Twitter account of the vaccine.

“Sputnik V will soon offer a booster shot, adjusted to work against the Delta variant of coronavirus, first detected in India, to other vaccine manufacturers,” the statement read.

Sputnik V has been so far approved in 67 countries with a total population of over 3.4 billion people. The Russian vaccine ranks second in the world in terms of the number of approvals by government regulators.

The effectiveness of the vaccine is 97.6% based on the analysis of data from 3.8 million vaccinated Russians, which is higher than the data previously published by medical journal The Lancet (91.6%).
