New Year’s wishes are not always feasible. It is hard, sometimes, to break through the strict bureaucracy of the real world for a merry fairy tale. A registration office in Russia’s Saint-Petersburg has refused to authorize the union of a young couple dressed as the popular Russian festive characters.
According to Russian-based media reports, the registry authority in Peterhof will not allow Ded Moroz (Father Frost) and his granddaughter Snegurochka (Snow Maiden), another fairy tale character, to become newlyweds.
According to the groom, the officials proposed instead a simple registration without any ceremony or photo session. The local registration office refused to comment on the matter, according to media reports.
