Israeli Forces Strike Hamas Military Site in Gaza Strip After IDF Vehicle Comes Under Fire

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Wednesday that they conducted an attack on a military post of Palestine’s Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip after an IDF engineering vehicle came under fire earlier in the day.

“Shots were fired at an IDF engineering vehicle adjacent to the security fence in the northern Gaza Strip earlier today, damaging the vehicle. No injuries were reported,” the IDF wrote on Twitter.

An exchange of fire followed, prompting the Israeli military to target two other posts belonging to the movement.

Hamas, a Sunni militant organization in control of the Gaza Strip, has been locked in a protracted on-and-off conflict with Israel, which still refuses to recognize Palestine as an independent political and diplomatic entity. Israel holds Hamas responsible for any attack coming from the Gaza Strip.

Along with that, the Syrian state TV reported on Wednesday morning Israeli air strikes on Syria’s Deir ez-Zor and Abu Kamal.
