According to emergency services, an explosion took place in a flat where a fire had been contained earlier in the day.
One person was killed and eight people were rescued following a fire at an apartment in a nine-storey building in the south of Moscow, a spokesperson for the emergency services said.
Windows on the fifth floor were blown out by the explosion. The cause of it is being investigated, he added.
