29 Killed in Blast at Education Centre in Kabul - Health Authorities

According to the officials, there are children among those killed and injured in the explosion in the Afghan capital.

Afghan officials said a bombing outside an educational centre in Kabul had killed at least 29 and wounded over 20 people, including children.

The interior ministry spokesman Tariq Arian did not immediately provide further details about the blast.

Daesh* claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing, the group said in a statement on Telegram without providing any further details.

There has of late been an uptick in violence between Taliban and Afghan forces in the country, despite the two warring sides having kick-started peace talks in Doha, Qatar,  to end the decades-long war in the country.

Back in February, the US inked a peace deal with the Taliban, opening up a path for the complete withdrawal of American troops from the war zone.

Earlier on Saturday, two other explosions shattered the area: first a roadside bomb killed nine people in eastern Afghanistan after it struck a minivan carrying civilians, a local official said. Later, a second one killed two policemen, striking their vehicle as they were making their way to the victims of the first explosion, according to Ghazni province police spokesman Ahmad Khan Sirat.

He added that the bombings had wounded more people, asserting that the attacks were being investigated.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks. However, according to the local police, the Taliban group were likely behind the attacks.
